Lakmé India Fashion Week Celebrating 15 years of Fashion and Style 18-22 March 2015

Lakmé Fashion week celebrating 15 years. It was a long 15 years for the Indian fashion designers, for the whole scene, the fashion week itself. In a country, where poverty is the biggest problem, but on other hand they have a lot of billionaires and millionaires, in all,a country of big social, religious and class diversity, country where only man can do a professional make-up, where woman in a lot of regions of the country ,are still bride- sell on young age etc. But there is India with its beautiful temples, the Taj-Mahal ,Ganges ,the colors, spices ,beauty ,the modern architecture , the biggest living home in the World, a lot of great textiles, crafts. From this two ,come modern India, a place for dreaming, where Bollywood, is a standard and people there really appreciate the silk, the satin the jewel, the embroidery. But India also try to look like the West too, to be put on the global fashion map, so in this 15 years she done a lot(as I show you on the photos),from an almost totally traditional take on the fashion, through Bollywood, to British India influence and modern 21st century look. The Indian Men also get a modern turn in leather pants, biker style from 2002,to today’s  ultra-cuts and colors, but that is not that strange in India ,because the Man in India are traditionally bit famine ,with lot of rings, earings ,embroidery ,like the maharaja,or Krishna ,how you like. Still in both case, the sari, decoration, the embroidery, the shapes, are deep in almost every designer work, which is good, showing the luxury of Indian style, as it put for centuries, by the wealthy people, or even the poor ones, who still wear beautiful silk, sari, made embroidery and have a lot of gold and bijou, all for the beauty of being well dress. The references from Indian style od dressing  can been seen through the past and today in many big designers collections from Galliano to JPG, which always had an admiration for  the craft, the sensual lace, the colors, the sari. Few of India best designers has showed in Paris, and few are now showing on the fashion weeks in New York,Paris,London like Bouchra Jarrar, Manish Arora,Rajesh Pratap and this days the young Rahul Mishra, which trying to reduce the Indian influence, or to re-designed in modern western way. In India there are designer’s names, which are established in the fashion world there, and being recognize and awarded, some even and out of their native country, Names like the fashion veteran, Ritu Kumar who has been awarded with a lifetime achievement. As one of India’s best fashion designers, and the first woman to introduce the ‘boutique’ culture in India under the brand name ‘Ritu’,with her designs ,in perfectly  rich traditional techniques and fabrics, with modern contemporary cuts ,have been  adorned by princess, Diana. Other big name is Narendra. His started with fashion from NIFT and has pass over the years show his creations at various international fashion weeks. He designing for Indian movie industry and has win several national and international awards. Lot of young designers too, trying to established their names, wishing to see their clothes on the Bollywood actreces,or some other celebrities ,and worn by the people. The fashion industry in India has grown in the past few years, and people start to take it more seriously, with what come and the commercial success. With 15 years behind, Lacme Fashion Week can be proud, of its designers and all the people who work hard, for the ideas, dreams to become truth.Congratulation, and keep with the GREAT work!
